Project Title and Summary

Mobilizing Indigenous Knowledge in the Context of Play: Collaborative Research with Innu in Quebec and Mãori in New Zealand

Project Objectives

  1. Identify Indigenous adults’ (elders, parent, teachers) representations of play and their culture.
  2. Recount game scenarios initiated, elaborated, and completed by children.
  3. Pinpoint with the adults the utilization of Indigenous knowledge within game scenarios.
  4. Build avenues for reflection with kindergarten teachers to deepen traditional learning through play.
  5. Share practices to help teachers of both countries to feed reflection on play-based learning.
