ICCA’s actions and events are aimed at the conservation of biodiversity and ecological functions; promoting the sustainable livelihoods and well-being of Indigenous peoples and local communities; and the implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, including self-determination and respect for their cultural diversity, rights, and collective and individual duties.
